On the farm, you truly feel the presence of history – time seems to pass more slowly in this special place. Sadly, my grandmother did not live to see this house become so famous. For many visitors, it’s a symbol of a popular TV series, but for me, it’s a living memory of the past – a place that carries the story and spirit of my grandmother’s life.

Renting out to holiday guests has a long tradition in my family. My grandmother was one of the first landladys in Ellmau and a true pioneer. She was the first in town to offer her guests a shared shower – a completely new and unusual idea at the time. It was hard to imagine, and she was almost laughed at. But my grandmother stayed true to her principles and built what was considered an innovation at the time. She always believed that her guests deserved only the best, and I adopted this attitude from her.

High above Ellmau sits the Hinterschnabel farmhouse, standing proudly since the 16th century. With its unique charm and rich history, it has long captivated visitors. It’s no wonder that the famous TV series Bergdoktor chose this authentic, historic farmstead as a filming location. The Hinterschnabelhof is one of the oldest buildings in the region – a traditional farm that has been inhabited and cultivated for generations. Today, it is widely known as the Bergdoktor House, but long before it became a television icon, it was a real home. Auf dem Hof hat man das Gefühl, die Geschichte zu spüren – die Zeit scheint an diesem besonderen Ort langsamer zu vergehen.

Unfortunately, my grandmother didn’t live to see this house become so famous today. For many visitors, the old farm is a symbol of the TV series; for me, it remains a living reminder of times gone by—a place that tells the story and life of my grandmother.
