Many of my guests travel here year after year with their four-legged companions because they know: Here in Ellmau, right at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser, both two-legged and four-legged friends find a little paradise. Right outside my door, a picturesque walking trail through shady forests begins, accompanied by a small, clear stream. Especially on warm days, it is a wonderful place to refresh and pause – for both humans and dogs. Without the noise of traffic, dogs can move freely and safely here. The fresh mountain air, the tranquility of nature, and the vast meadows not only help you breathe easier – your dog will noticeably thrive here as well.

Ellmau and its surroundings offer countless dog-friendly hiking and walking trails, from pleasant valley paths to scenic mountain routes. Many of these trails pass through shaded sections, which is a great advantage, especially in summer. Several mountain huts along the paths are also dog-friendly and welcome you with open arms – and often with a bowl of water as well. One of the favorite spots for my guests is the Gieringer Weiher, a picturesque natural lake nearby. Here, dogs are not only allowed by the water but can also happily jump in and enjoy themselves – a real highlight for hot days!

Even off the hiking paths, Ellmau is well-prepared for holidays with dogs. In many cafés and restaurants, four-legged friends are warmly welcomed. Whether enjoying an ice cream in the sun or having a hearty platter on the hut terrace, your loyal companion can join you. Dogs are also allowed on public transportation (e.g., in the hiking bus) – with a leash and muzzle, this is no problem. Some taxi services in the region even expressly welcome dogs. This way, you can experience the beauty of the Wilder Kaiser together with your dog – because here, your dog will feel as at home as you do.
